Online dating, particularly when looking for an f-buddy, is pretty daunting especially if you’ve never done it before. We’ve already published a fair bit of advice when it comes to what you should and shouldn’t do, but if you’d like a second, or even a third opinion, then we’ve compiled a short list of the best books on the market that may be able to help you.

1. Facebook Dating Secrets: For Men and Women
Facebook is less of a phenomena then it is a way of life for most people these days. If you’re already here on our site then it’s safe to say you already have a fully functional facebook profile. This book is actually pretty useful in refining your chat up lines and ways to generate attraction. The downsides are that your profile is visible to all of your friends and family who you may not want to share your dating habits with. Use it as warm up for finding your perfect f-buddy.

Part of the hugely popular ‘Dummies’ series, this entry covers pretty much everything you need to know about dating online. From chat up lines to first encounters, it pretty much throws the kitchen sink at the internet. Useful. The only downside is the level of detail it goes into making it easy to get lost in. Recommended for reference purposes.

One geared specifically towards the ladies, this is a warts and all guide from a woman who actually did online dating for over 2 years. Sharing her experiences and humour, it is useful for any female members who are looking to explore the online dating world further. Guys might like to check it out too to see the difference in attitudes.

4. I Can’t Believe I’m Buying This Book: A Commonsense Guide To Successful Internet Dating
This is geared towards men and women and is designed to help both get dates with attractive members of the opposite sex. The author, Evan Katz is a personal coach who has been helping women and more recently men, find dates and more online since 2003.

5. The Shy Single: A Bold Guide To Dating For The Less-Than-Bold Dater
Perfect for anyone who has trouble looking at a woman let alone trying to chat one up. This self effacing and supportive book takes the shy guy through a series of steps and exercises that get him dating before he even realises it. Useful, funny, absorbing and great value.
